Books and Things

Posted by AdventVoice - October 4th, 2017

Books=Knowledge.

At least that was what I was led to believe as a child growning up.

Now that I am a grown man, I have come to find Books=Influence.

People go so far as to determine only what they say to be fact; only what they say to be true, even if what they say could be as fictious as the books that they write.

So how do we determine what is true and what is imagined? Using the same dew decimal system that the library of congress uses to seperate Non-fiction from Fiction.

What is the difference? That is like asking what is the difference between Capitalism and Communisim or What is the difference between Liberation and Freedom. What is the difference between Free speech and speaking evil?

That last question is the answer between Non-fiction and Fiction. When we are growning up those that are older tell us what is right and wrong, from there experiances and we, the younger generation are exprected to hold certian traditions in order to uphold truth. When we don't hold to traditions we are subject to falter and to speak fcitions as Non-ficition because we did not go through what our elders did. This ignorance leads us to create phantoms of truth and fall into the same pits as those before us and that is why there are no new stories. That is why Hollywood can only rehash the same plot lines. That is why the sounds of orchastras can not come up with anything beyond Bethoveens O'd to Joy when expressing infamy for there is only one truth. There is only one way to describe good and evil.

Many of us seek to believe there is a grey area in which we can live, a world in which amoral means are just as good as moral means and this philosphy is what created the feudal era's; a time in which America has never seen because we sought to always be above those lines of thought. We understood good and evil and we understood it because we had a firm foundation in what was true and what was false. What works and what does not work. It is when a society sets out to claim that their history was made up by liers and that there could have been an alternate reality from what we are living in, that creates a confusion and disunity in the minds of the people and a civil strife.

 I walked into Walmart and was concerned that there are no good new books. That the New York bestseller was "Fifty Shades of Grey!" Those that read it could have sworn it was a new idea and something wonderful. Yet if they knew the history of Grey and Marquie de Sade they would have realized how old the stroy really is and how far from it being a plausible piece of diction or applicable in an American society. Escpecially a society set upon rules of law that determine we uphold a standard and saftey for our children. But maybe people really do like dreaming of love from a selfish source and think it is ok to use people, that slavery is ok in any sense of the word. Does not make it true.

Only Fiction.
